Our Story

Through the chaos and trauma that was 2020, something beautiful was born.

The pandemic effected everyone deeply and uniquely. For Alex and Ashlee, it was the loss of their “normal” work in the fitness and yoga industry. Alex was teaching 20 classes per week at studios around the twin cities, and Ashlee was managing Title Boxing in Woodbury. After a few months of teaching a online classes here and there, Alex and Ashlee decided they had to do something more proactive, and honestly, something to keep from going stir crazy.

The first iteration of FlowFit (called A-Team Fitness at the time) was a simple virtual platform that their followers could access at anytime, from anywhere. Though nothing fancy, this was the beginning of something that became so much more.

As things started slowly becoming accessible in person again, Ashlee went back to managing Title, and Alex decided to take the FlowFit virtual platform to the next level, creating a full at-home studio experience. Before long, it felt like as a society, everyone was ready to return to their regular lives. Alex started looking at spaces, and Ashlee rejoined the team to co-create the incredible space that is now FlowFit’s brick and mortar space. In 2024 Ashlee made the move to Denver and left the FlowFit team, but still pops in to teach the occasional holiday class and practice at her favorite studio!

Building Community

Alex felt so strongly that this studio not only be a place for fitness, but for sharing a space with like minded individuals from all over the twin cities, with different backgrounds and stories. You feel it immediately when you walk in the door and someone introduces themself to you, or offers to give you a tour. You feel it in the interactive, workshop-style atmosphere of class. You feel it in the happy hours, socials and regularly occurring events and parties. The FlowFit community is incredibly supportive and overflows with love and connection.

Teaching You How To Move Better

Alex’s passion for anatomy comes through in full force in FlowFit’s class structure. From deeply understanding your core, to finding mobility and strength you never thought possible, the instruction style is designed around guiding you to create a deep connection between mind and body. Not only will you learn how to move anatomically in a way that serves your personal needs, additionally, this strong focus on the body creates a powerful meditative experience regardless of the class format. Get ready to move into asanas and shapes you never dreamed of and improve your longevity and quality of life. Because of this deeply focused approach, FlowFit’s classes are non-heated (just a gentle 76 degrees to keep the chill out) so you sweat because of the hard work, not the room temperature!

Creating A Balanced Routine For Life

The fitness industry has always been full of fads, but yoga has been on an upward trend for many years due to it’s low impact and full body approach. At FlowFit balance is key. The schedule is created to give you a full service studio for strength, mobility and flexibility all wrapped up in mindfulness and mind body connection. Alex and the FlowFit crew don’t just believe in balance within the studio, but outside of it as well. The options for class times and formats give you freedom to practice when you want, and how you want, and THAT is how you create a movement and yoga practice you maintain for life. They like to joke that yoga ages you in reverse, but really, they are only half kidding on that one!
